At Elite Dentistry Chennai, our mission is more than just treating dental issues—it’s about preventive care, education, and building confidence from an early age. On 29 July 2025, we had the privilege of bringing that mission to AIM Primary & Nursery School through a Free Dental Awareness Campaign. Thanks to the kind support of the school, and the enthusiasm of its students and staff, the day was a resounding success.
A Day of Oral Health, Education & Care
From the early morning, the campus buzzed with excitement as our team of dentists, dental hygienists, and support staff set up a mobile screening station and educational booths. Over the course of the day:
- 265 children (from nursery through primary grades) received complimentary dental check-ups.
- 30 staff members were also screened and received guidance on oral hygiene and preventive strategies.
- Each child was engaged in interactive sessions about brushing technique, flossing, healthy snacks vs sugary treats, and the role of regular dental visits in lifelong oral health.
We believe that awareness planted early is the foundation of a healthy smile—and confidence. Through playful demonstrations (using oversized tooth models and cartoon flip charts), the children learned to approach dental care with curiosity instead of fear. Many shy faces brightened as they tried brushing on the tooth model or counted Molars and Incisors in fun quizzes.
From Check-Ups to Confidence
During the screenings, our dentists looked for potential issues such as early signs of cavities, plaque buildup, gum inflammation, and alignment concerns. In cases where further dental evaluation was necessary, we prepared simple follow-up recommendation slips for parents, so they can seek more comprehensive treatment at Elite Dentistry or with their local dentist.
We also held a short session for teachers and staff, emphasizing the importance of being role models for children. Topics included:
- Encouraging consistent brushing and flossing
- Minimising sugary snacks and drinks
- Recognising signs of dental pain or sensitivity
- Facilitating follow-up care where needed
The staff expressed gratitude for the hands-on tips and educational materials—many shared that they, too, had gained new perspective on their own oral care habits.
Impact Beyond the Day
While one day cannot address every dental issue, awareness and early screening can prevent many from escalating. Our goals for the campaign were:
- Empower children with knowledge and habits that reduce cavities and gum disease.
- Detect early concerns so that appropriate care can be sought before they become serious.
- Strengthen school-community relationships by offering care where children spend much of their daily lives.
- Promote Elite Dentistry’s vision of holistic, preventive oral healthcare across Chennai and beyond.
Feedback from the school was enthusiastic. The principal commented that the children were animated and engaged—“they spoke about teeth and gums at lunch,” she laughed. Several parents later expressed gratitude, saying their children came home recounting the lessons and promising better brushing habits.
